Spanish Students Cutural Field Trip
April 14-15, Ms Bravo and Ms. Dery took 8 students on the first ever AHS AP Spanish overnight fieldtrip to Los Angeles to help give students additional cultural background experience before their AP test in May. Enroute to LA, they visited a Mexican handicrafts museum on Santa Barbara, then explored the muralism movement at the Mural Mile in Pacoima. They visited 3 museums in the LA area, learned about Chavez Ravine and the Dodger Stadium controversy, as well as visited Olvera Street, the Grand Central Market, and the Piñata District. On the way home, they sampled some delicious Argetinian empanadas. The field trip was funded through a C.A.P.S. Grant.
