Atascadero High School

High school administration building.

This is a time for you to develop as a team member and a time for you to consider your personal goals. This is your time to ask questions, to explore your classes and to begin those lifelong friendships.

I am thrilled to be your principal at AHS. Atascadero High School is an outstanding school in an absolutely wonderful community, and you will come to understand how special this is as you move through your life.

As we continue to move into the implementation of the Common Core State Standards, we see potential for students to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding through communication, collaboration, with creativity and critical thinking; all skills that will prepare our students for real world success in college and careers. I believe we are a team whose goal is to see each of our students reach their potential.

Each member of the team; the school, the parent/guardian and the student, plays a role in this success. I feel confident in saying that each of us here at AHS will bring our A-game each day. We bring much experience and expertise to our profession. All in our effort to help our students grow and develop as young people.

As a parent/guardian, we ask that you continue to support your student during this time. High school is full of challenges and expectations. As your student(s) faces these challenges and tries to meet the expectations, he/she will need guidance and help in finding their path. Keep up the great work you’ve done so far, and know that you can always reach out to your student’s teachers, counselors and support staff.

As a student, remember that you are not alone in this journey. We are all here to help. Life can seem overwhelming at times, but please remember, there are only two things you can really control…your attitude and your effort. Please keep this in mind as you move forward with your education at AHS and as you move on with your life afterwards.

I can speak personally to each of the three roles I’ve mentioned here. I attended and graduated from AHS, I taught and coached here for over twenty-two years and both of my children graduated as Greyhounds. I look forward to the upcoming year and all the promise it brings. Go Hounds!

Sincerely,
William C. Neely
Principal, Atascadero High School
