National Honor Society The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school and middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Second semester sophomores with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.8 are invited to submit an interest packet for consideration of membership. Students seeking membership must have a minimum of 60 hours of verifiable community service in the last year. Students are evaluated on scholarship, leadership, service and character. Students must maintain a 3.8 GPA, attend meetings, and participate in both club service projects and complete 32 community service hours over the summer and 8 each month. Once inducted members are members for life except if they fail to maintain the minimum standards of membership. Members may face discipline actions if they fail to maintain NHS standards which may culminate in their removal from the organization.
NHS meetings are at lunch on the 2nd, 4th and 5th Thursday of every month in H-3 See Ms. Williams in H-3 if you have any questions |
