A Brief History of Our Library...
The Creston Library was created in 1987. Prior to that time, the school had no official library. Teachers either bought library books themselves or had books donated to their classroom by parents. Students generally used a small local branch of the San Luis Obispo County Library system, located just off the school grounds. But the school itself had no library.

At that time, Mrs. Joan Sando was Principal, and Roy King was Creston's representative on the district school board. Through their efforts, along with the countless volunteer hours of Mrs. Angie Cook, our library soon became a reality! We now have over 2000 titles, and the list grows each year with the help of Cris Smith, District Librarian, Mrs. Amato, school Librarian, Mrs. Emmy Collier, library volunteer (see photo below), and Mrs. Charlotte deFermian, Creston Library's resident "Weaver of Tales." Here's to another fantastic year in the Creston Library 2007-08! We can't wait!

Book Review... Shiloh
Reviewer: A 10-year old reader (courtesy of Amazon.com)

I put off reading Shiloh because I thought I hated dog stories. Then, after enjoying a similar book, I read it and loved it! It's about a boy, Marty, in West Virginia, who's desperate to save runaway dog Shiloh from his abusive owner. A great book that allows you to relate with the main character and gives you a chance to really think.

However, for those of you who dislike "sappy" books or have a problem with saying I want a beagle too! at the end of it, this is not a book for you. On the other hand, if you like those types of things and are dying to know if Marty gets Shiloh, read and discover...
